Obituary for John F. O'Sullivan

John F. O'Sullivan 73, died October 23, 2013, in his Niskayuna home surrounded by his loving wife, Loretta, his children and a close family friend.

Born on February 20, 1940 to James F. O'Sullivan and Mary (Grennan) O'Sullivan in Schenectady, John graduated Linton High School in 1958. After college he married the love of his life, Loretta (Nastacie) O'Sullivan, on October 20, 1962 and they recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary together.

John was a Licensed Professional Engineer and spent 52 years in the construction industry. He worked for the NYS Department of Transportation for 32 years, constructing roads and bridges in Region 1. After retirement, he went on to work as an engineer with local private companies and most recently working in Schenectady as the Project Engineer rebuilding Erie Boulevard. It's a rare person who has not driven on a road or across a bridge that was improved by John. He leaves behind a legacy of professionalism, integrity and true caring for his many friends and coworkers.

He is survived by his wife Loretta, his daughters Karin E. O'Sullivan (Grace), Kelli A. O'Sullivan, and his son Kevin P. O'Sullivan; his brother J. Robert O'Sullivan (Ida), his sister Marilyn A. Bricoccoli (Paul); brother–in-law and sister-in-law Frank and Linda Nastacie; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Rose and John Singleton; his mother-in-law Betty Nastacie.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday, October 25th at St. Kateri Tekakwitha, formerly St. Helen's, on Union St. at 11:00 am.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a committal graveside service on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady County, 1411 Union St. Schenectady, 12308 or to a charity of one's choice.

John has made an Anatomical Gift to the Albany Medical College.
