Mary Jane  Getty (Ullman)
Mary Jane Getty, 91, of Schenectady, N.Y. and Naples, FL. passed on Friday, September 9, 2016 after a brief illness.

Mary Jane was born to Jules M. and Florence E. Ullman in New York City on April 4, 1925; grew up in Bayside, N.Y. and relocated to Schenectady in 1950. Mary Jane was married to Thomas S. Getty for 59 years; he predeceased her in 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela J. McCassey of Sterling, MA; her son, Thomas S. Getty, Jr. of Cumming, GA; her niece Susan L. McMichael of Reidsville, NC and her beloved grandchildren and great granddaughter.

Mary Jane was a graduate of Northfield-Mount Herman Prep School and received her BS Degree from Skidmore College, Saratoga, N.Y. She was employed in McCann-Erickson's radio and television division in NYC until her relocation upstate. As an active member of the community she devoted 18 years of service as Treasurer to the Boy's Club of America, Schenectady, N.Y. and held various positions in the Junior League of Schenectady and the League Club of Naples, FL. Playing golf was her lifelong passion. She was a member of The Edison Golf Club, The Mohawk Golf Club and Royal Poinciana Golf Club, Naples, FL. Mary Jane was awarded the Woman’s Golf Championship at the Mohawk on three occasions and she proudly earned two Holes in One. She enjoyed many years of playing in the Northeastern Woman's Golf Association and was an honorary member. In addition to golf she and her family were longtime active members of the Schenectady Curling Club.

Family and friends are invited to honor Mary Jane in celebration of her life on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 11 AM at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., (at McClellan St), Schenectady, NY. Entombment will follow at Memory Garden’s. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2016 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Jones Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association,
