The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Daniel Silva can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Darryl (and Kim) Brown

I've known Mark and his dad, Dan Silva, since I was in first grade, already nearly 60 years ago. He was a leader of men at GE, a role model for his two sons and their kids, a demon on the tennis courts, and I'm happy to say, a friend to me. I have many fond memories: his huge (at least to my then-6 year old eyes) boxer, Champ; leaving our sixth grade class in awe as we toured the gigantic turbine plant at GE; showing off his new slippers at Christmas as Mark tore into his own gifts (followed by Lorraine's terrific cranberry bread); putting up with the cacophony of our high school garage band; attending my wedding; foregoing his tennis ritual in Central Park one summer afternoon to attend my mother's funeral -- to cite only a few examples. He was thoughtful, supportive, and caring and he took pride that he passed those attributes on to his sons, and they to their own kids, and on, and on... Condolences to the Silva family.
